Closing A Chapter

Wow! What a ride it has been! I want to express to every one of you how truly thankful I am that I have had the privilege of being your child’s teacher. Teaching has been more than a job to me. These kids are still my babies even though I now have my own. I have been a teacher for the past nine years and today marks the end of that chapter in my life for a little while. The new adventure ahead is both scary and exciting, but I will carry the memories that I have made with this special class with me. Each and every day I was greeted with smiles, stories, and silliness from 23 precious children. As I stood at my door this morning, I had tears in my eyes thinking that this will be my last time, at least for a while, welcoming kids into my classroom.

I know you all are also closing a chapter today. Your baby finished kindergarten! They are the little kid at school no longer. They have all grown so much this year in so many different ways. Be proud and celebrate their accomplishments. Enjoy the precious moments you have with them this summer because in a few short weeks they will be first graders! How did the time go so quickly???

Yes it is the end of a chapter, but it is also the beginning of a new one. They will blossom and grow so much next year! I know they are going to be in great hands!!!  Many of you all have been stuck with me for three plus years 😉 Thanks for putting up with me and some of my crazy ideas! Thanks for all the support, love, and friendship each one of you has offered me. It has meant so much to me.  VPE is a wonderful place and I am grateful to have played a little part in its legacy.

It’s been great! Here’s to new beginnings…

I’m Back!

Hope this finds everyone well! I have had a wonderful maternity leave with my little man, but I am excited to see my school littles tomorrow 🙂 I want to say a big thanks to Ms. Duncan for doing a great job while I was gone. I know the kiddos loved getting to know her. I also want to say a HUGE thanks to Ms. Helm! She is the unsung hero of our class!!! She keeps everything organized and in working order. I couldn’t do what I do everyday without her and I certainly couldn’t have asked for anyone better to help keep things smooth while I was out. Next time you see her, make sure you give her a big thanks!!!

It is going to be a fun week! Tomorrow we have Irish dancers performing and on Tuesday COSI! I am going to be spending the week assessing all the kiddos to see where we are at and what we have left to work on this year. Can’t wait to be amazed with all their progress! I will be scheduling conferences soon 🙂 See everyone bright and early in the morning!

Don’t forget to cheer on the CATS this afternoon- C-A-T-S, CATS, CATS, CATS!

This time of year it is hard not to think about how blessed I am.  Cameron, Isaac, Michael, Desarae, Tyler, Aidan, Dylan, Madi, Sam, Tia, Nicholas, Joseph, Gray, Ava, Mackenzie, Mason, Jesse, Keenan, Trae, and Iris… I am so thankful to have each one of these little ones as a blessing in my life.  No matter what kind of mood I’m in or what is going on elsewhere in my life, I know that when I arrive at VPE each day it is going to be a good day in Ms. Williams’ room.  Smiles, laughter, tears, happiness, struggles, sharing, caring, and learning happen every day.  I am so truly blessed to get to share these moments with each and every kiddo.  I am blessed that you parents share your little treasures with me each day.  All of us are a family of sorts, working together for the best interest of every kid.  Thank you for everything you do to support me and our classroom family!  I hope each of you has a wonderful and blessed holiday season!

Happy Holidays

Week In Review

We have finished our first week!  I bet the kids are tired.  I know I am- haha!!!  We have had so much fun and learning already.  We have talked a lot about rules and procedures.  We read David Goes to School by David Shannon and discussed good and bad choices.  I am seeing LOTS of good choices being made at school!  Hand raising, quiet in the halls, trying their best- amazing for their first three days in school!  I am one proud teacher!  We will continue to work on classroom routines and building community in our classroom family over the next few weeks.

We have also been doing many activities to learn all about each other.  It is so fun to learn new things about each child every day!  They never stop amazing me (or making me laugh).  I am very thankful to be a part of their lives!  Speaking of learning new things about each other, I shared some news with the kiddos today about me 🙂  My husband and I are expecting a baby boy in December.  We are very excited to be parents!  I already have a fabulous sub to be with the class while I’m on maternity leave later in the year.  It will be a very smooth transition and I will be looking forward to coming back to finish the year with our class!

Just a few random notes…

  • Your child is more than welcome to bring a water bottle with them each day to keep out on their table.  Just make sure it has a lid that they can close to keep the spills down.
  • For snack, make sure your child knows which item is their snack and what is part of their lunch 🙂  We have had a little confusion a couple of times.  Also, I would rather just stick to water bottles as drinks in the classroom- juice boxes seem to be a little messy and can cause sticky messes on the carpet.
  • Make sure your kiddo wears tennis shoes on gym days and flip-flops are not allowed at school.
  • Great job sending back take home folders!
  • Your child should have gotten a copy of their cafeteria number and a practice pad.  Please practice this with your child- especially if they buy their lunch on a regular basis.

Have a great weekend and I will see everyone bright and early Monday morning!

First Day Fun

We had a great first day on Wednesday!  We had all kinds of fun with Pete the Cat!  We read Pete the Cat Rocking In His School Shoes and listened to his song.  We followed Pete around the school and saw all kinds of new places- the library, the principals office, the gym, the art room, the office, and the music room!  Here are some pictures from our tour…

We all had so much fun!  I am so enjoying getting to know all these new personalities!  We have such a sweet class.  I can already tell we are going to have a great year!  Let the fun begin!!!!

MAP Testing

Our class will take the math MAP test tomorrow morning!  Our class ROCKED it out on the reading MAP with 100% of our class reaching their year-end target!!!  Let’s see if we can do just as well on the math 🙂  Please make sure your child gets a good nights rest and eats a healthy breakfast, so they can do their very best.  Also, remind them to take their time!  Let’s show what we know!
