February Book Club

We are reading a mystery this month! Our book is Cam Jansen and the Valentine Baby Mystery by David Adler. It is available at the public library and on amazon.com for $3.99. I have a few copies I can loan out too- just let me know if you need one. First come, first serve! We will meet after school on Monday, February 25th.

January Book Club

I think our first book club was a hit today!  We had lots of fun talking about the book and making up some silly songs like Junie B. 🙂  If your child didn’t particpate this time, they are more than welcome to jump in for our January meeting!

Mercy Watson to the Rescue

Our book for January will be Mercy Watson to the Rescue by Kate DiCamillo.  We will meet on January 28th.  Your child can read the book independently or you can read it together!  This is the first book in the Mercy Watson series- I’m hoping this one will get them hooked!  Parents are more than welcome to join us for “book club” if you wish!

The book is available at the Lexington Public Library (they even have the book on cd), Barnes and Noble, or you can order it on amazon.com for $5.99.  HAPPY READING!!!

Book Club

We are starting a class book club!  It is totally optional, but it should be really fun.  Our first meeting will be right after school on Monday, December 17.  We will meet in my room and “discuss” the book, do an activity, have a snack, and take a reading counts test.  The first book will be Junie B., First Grader Jingle Bells, Batman Smells! by Barbra Parks.  Your child can read the book independently or you can read it together!  Parents are more than welcome to join us for “book club” if you wish or you can just pick your kiddo up in the front bus loop at 3:15.  I will send a permission slip to allow them to stay after school a little closer to the date.

The book is available at the Lexington Public Library, Barnes and Noble, or you can order it on amazon.com for $4.99.  You could even download it on an iPad or Kindle!  I think this will just be a fun way to teach the kids that reading is FUN!  HAPPY READING!!!
